We have received the first few loads of new crop beans. Although these are early, many fields are just a couple weeks away. Variable fall hours are soon approaching, so please stay in contact to ensure we are open to keep your operation running. On that topic, if you feel your e-mail or mobile phone number may not be correct in our system, please contact us to check. With those two pieces accurate we can use e-mail or texts to keep all our customers updated. Wishing everyone a safe and successful harvest!
We will be having our annual customer event Sept 5. This year Jason Deveau from OMAFRA will be talking about drone spraying in Ontario; what works and what doesn’t. Emma Dieleman an agronomist with Syngenta will be discussing wheat agronomy in Ontario. TJ Poehlman a mechanic and instructor with Ridgetown College will be discussing the operation and maintenance of combines. It should be a good event, for full information if you didn’t receive an email with the invite, contact the office. Also contact the office to RSVP before the end of August, we look forward to seeing you and thank you for your business.
The second grain bin is almost erected. A couple large overhead conveyors need to be completed, and lot’s of little details. We all hope it will be ready to roll for soybean harvest. Most of the other supporting updates were complete for the wheat harvest, so many of you would have noticed those already.
Hello wheat customers,
Wheat harvest is quickly approaching. Both Dresden and Rutherford will be ready to receive your wheat. Hours will be extended as needed during harvest.
Please call to let us know your plans. 519-683-4413
There is zero tolerance for treated seed contamination in grain shipments. Please ensure all wagons and trucks are clean and completely free of treated seed.
Thanks and have a safe harvest.
July and wheat harvest are both approaching. Harvest does appear slightly earlier this year than most, but the upcoming weather will leave a lot to be determined. Rutherford and Dresden will both be available to receive wheat. However, Rutherford is under construction, with at least one day of planned shutdown for Hydro One to do some work. Please keep in touch with the offices if you plan to harvest, it will help us be ready to receive your wheat. Several fields of wheat missed fungicide applications this year; it’s also a good idea to monitor those fields if harvest is delayed. An early harvest with some wheat drying charges may offset quality discounts due to Fusarium or falling number.
With planting season underway we will do our best to get you the seed you need. It’s been a slow and wet start, but as things pick up we can try to find or make the seed you need with enough notice. Watch this news section or call the office if you may require seed outside of the normal business hours (7am-5pm). We will have flexible hours based on weather and customer demand.
Earth has been moved, transformed and reinforced with rebar in Rutherford. The beginning of two new grain bins is now clear from above. This is the first stage of several upgrades that will hopefully serve customers better in 2024. We look forward to seeing everyone this spring and fall, thanks for dealing with Jackson Seeds!
